TOP WOMEN'S GAME

Francis Marion (7-6, 5-2) at Clayton State (11-3, 5-2)--Saturday 2 p.m. EST

Since gaining a top 25 national ranking for the first time in school history, the Lakers have lost back-to-back games, the most recent a 79-65 defeat to upstart North Georgia on Wednesday. Now the Clayton State women must face a Francis Marion squad that has won four straight games, including a narrow 57-56 win over Augusta State on Wednesday. The winner of this contest not only could take over sole possession of second place in the Peach Belt Conference standings, but also could have the inside track on the top seed for the PBC tournament. Remember, North Georgia cannot compete in the PBC tourney despite its perfect record in conference play (12-3, 8-0 as of 01/20/2006).

West Georgia (12-4, 2-2) at #13 Alabama-Huntsville (L)--(14-2, 3-1)--Saturday 7:30 p.m. CST

The Braves begin the second leg of their Alabama road swing in the Tennessee Valley this weekend, as they face the Chargers. Hopefully, the second part of the trip will be much better than the first, as the West Georgia men fell at nationally top-ranked Montevallo 68-64 last Saturday, followed by a 102-81 shredding by West Alabama two nights later.
