The Lady Braves host the Lady Pirates in a battle of two middle-of-the-pack squads in the Peach Belt Conference. The UNCP women proved that they will at least have a say in who wins the PBC regular season title in 2006, as the Lady Braves snapped a three-game skid with a 64-53 road win at Georgia College & State University Wednesday. As for the Lady Pirates, they opened the new calendar year by extending their winning streak to five games, downing Francis Marion 64-47.

USC Upstate (7-2, 2-1) at North Georgia (7-2, 4-0)--Saturday 5 p.m. EST
The upstart Saints play host to the defending Peach Belt Conference regular season champion Spartans (the other PBC co-champion, Kennesaw State, has since moved on to the NCAA Division I ranks), in a critical PBC match-up. The North Georgia men will try to extend their winning streak to seven straight game, while Upstate is coming off a hard-fought win over Wingate 71-69 in non-conference action Wednesday.
