Yandel Brown put on yet another offensive show for Columbus State, as he scored 22 points to lead the Cougars to an easy 92-62 win over UNC Pembroke in the first round of the Peach Belt Conference men's basketball tournament Wednesday. The Cougars (19-8) will the North Division's second seed, Lander University (17-10) in the quarterfinals Friday at 1 p.m. EST.
Elsewhere in the PBC tournament, Armstrong Atlantic State (15-13) won its second straight game after losing four in a row, as the South Division's fifth seeded Pirates routed North Division fourth seed Francis Marion (10-17) 66-39. In the third game of the day, North Division fifth seed USC Aiken (7-20) snapped a ten game skid by knocking off South Division fourth seed North Florida (14-17) 80-72. Finally, Karim Telfer's trey with 1.6 seconds left lifted Augusta State (18-10) to a 75-73 win over Georgia College & State University (13-15).
