MUST SEE GAMES--02/16/2005

TOP WOMEN'S GAMES:

Augusta State (12-11, 6-6) at UNC Pembroke (14-9, 6-6)--Wednesday 5:30 p.m. EST
Armstrong Atlantic State (17-9, 7-5) at Georgia College & State University (15-8, 6-6)--Wednesday 5:30 p.m. EST

If anyone had said at the beginning of this season that the UNCP women would even contend for a first round bye in the Peach Belt Conference tournament, much less the PBC North Division title, a lot of people would have said, "yeah, right!" But the Braves have been one of the biggest surprises in the PBC this season, as they are currently tied with Augusta and Lander for second place in the division. All three teams trail current PBC North leader USC Aiken (17-9, 7-5) by one game with four games left in the regular season.

As for the AASU-GC&SU match-up, this is a must-win game for both teams, as the Lady Pirates currently sit in third place in the PBC South Division, while the Lady Bobcats stand just one game behind in fourth place. GC&SU will look to deliver some payback after losing 72-69 at AASU in the Peach Belt Conference opener on Jan. 5.

  • TOP MEN'S GAME:

    Kennesaw State (20-3, 10-2) at Columbus State (16-6, 9-3)--Wednesday 7:30 p.m. EST

The Fighting Owls, who are ranked seventh in the nation this week, will make one last visit to the Lumpkin Center (KSU moves to D-I in 2005-06) as they take on the Cougars in a battle for the Peach Belt Conference regular season title, and at least a share of first place in the PBC South. KSU defeated CSU 72-54 in the first meeting between the two teams on Jan. 5.
