#2 LAKERS HOLD OFF #20 PIRATES IN OVERTIME

Pirates Slip In OT To No. 2 Clayton, 69-64

MORROW, Ga. (January 10) - Junior William Kane hit a huge three-pointer at the end of regulation to force overtime at No. 2 Clayton State, but the Lakers pulled away from the Pirates in the extra frame, knocking off No.20 Armstrong Atlantic, 69-64, in Peach Belt Conference action on Wednesday evening.

The Pirates (11-3, 2-1 PBC) opened the contest strong, taking a 12-point halftime lead on the Lakers (14-0, 3-0 PBC), 33-21. Clayton State hit 56 percent from the floor in capping a second-half comeback.

AASU trailed by five, 58-53 with 15 seconds left, but Jamaal Galloway was fouled on a three-point attempt and hit all three free throws. Clayton State made one of two free throws, then Kane hit the three-pointer to send the game into OT. In overtime, the Lakers hit 8-of-10 free throws to pickup the win. Kane led a quartet of Pirates in double figures with 14 points, while Jamaal Galloway added 12 and Patrick Sanou and Tory Harris each added 10.

The Pirates return to action on Saturday, January 13, at Francis Marion at 7:30 p.m.
