AASU PIRATES FALL AT FLORIDA SOUTHERN

Men's Basketball: Florida Southern 93, Armstrong Atlantic 81

LAKELAND, Fla. - Florida Southern hit a school-record 75 percent from three-point range, hitting 12 of 16 three-pointers, in downing Armstrong Atlantic State, 93-81, on Wednesday evening in Lakeland.

The Mocs (3-5) avenged an earlier-season loss to the Pirates (7-2) on a night where they could not miss from long distance. Florida Southern went 7-of-8 from three-point range in the first half to build a 41-31 lead at halftime. AASU would rally in the second half, cutting the lead to just three, 70-67, but the Pirates could get no closer.

Rob Eldridge led a quintet of Mocs in double figures with a game-high 20 points, while Andrei Grant added 19 on 8-of-12 shooting from the floor.Florida Southern, as a team, hit 57.1 percent from the floor (32-of-56). Armstrong Atlantic was led by Jamaal Galloway's 18 points off the bench, while Kevin Parker chipped in 15 points. Tory Harris, playing in front of a hometown crowd in Lakeland, notched 14 points.

AASU returns to action on Friday, December 29, as the Pirates host Southern Arkansas at 6:00 p.m. in the Spring Hill Suites Midtown New Year Classic.
