ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Junior forward Jonathan Bartomioli scored one goal and assisted on another as Francis Marion University blanked Brevard College 3-0 in non-conference men's soccer action on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 2).
The Patriots even their record at 1-1, while the Tornados fall to 0-4 and have been outscored 23-0 on the young season.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jeremy Crooks, a product of South Florence High School, made his first career start and recorded the shutout. He posted two saves as FMU outshot Brevard 10-5.
Freshman Kyle Clinton gave FMU a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute when he scored off a David Lyman assist. Following halftime, freshman Eric Ellender took a Bartomioli feed and scored in the 65th minute to up the margin to 2-0. Bartomioli finished the scoring with an unassisted tally in the 80th minute.
Francis Marion also held a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.
The Patriots return to action on Tuesday at Belmont Abbey College. The match will kick-off at 4 p.m.
