VSU DOWNS WEST FLORIDA, ADVANCES TO GSC TOURNEY

The illustrious career of Valdosta State University head baseball coach Tommy Thomas has been extended by at least two games, thanks to the University of West Florida Argonauts.

Thomas, who will retire after 40 years at the Blazer helm, defeated UWF 5-2 Sunday afternoon at Valdosta, Ga. to advance to the Gulf South Conference tournament at Millington, Tenn. Thomas is the winningest active head coach at the NCAA Division II level with 1,308 wins going into Thursday's GSC tournament opener against West Division top seed Ouachita Baptist.
